Practical measurement

Put airflow into perspective.

From a supply grille to a low-velocity work area, use a separate probe to reach the measurement point while keeping the display in view.

01 / HVAC

Grilles & diffusers

Check air velocity at ventilation outlets and compare readings across a grille. Use consistent probe positioning when checking air distribution or balancing a system.

02 / LOW AIR SPEED

Cleanroom airflow checks

Evaluate local air movement at low velocities. The 0.2 m/s lower measurement limit and remote probe support spot checks at selected measurement points.

03 / MAINTENANCE

Fans & refrigerated cases

Compare air velocity before and after maintenance, or inspect circulation around a refrigerated display. Read air temperature alongside velocity on the dual LCD.

Use within the specified air velocity, temperature and humidity limits. Spot measurements do not by themselves certify cleanroom performance.

Using the AVM-714

A straightforward measurement routine.

Prepare the sensor, align the probe and capture your readings. Keep fingers and tools away from the delicate sensing element.

Watch the product demonstration
  1. Connect & selectConnect the probe, power on and select the air velocity and temperature units.
  2. Zero the sensorSlide the sensor cover up to isolate it from airflow, then press ZERO.
  3. Position the probeSlide the cover down, extend the probe and face the direction mark into the airflow.
  4. Read & recordRead velocity and temperature together. Use HOLD or MAX–MIN recall as required.

Frequently asked questions

What does the AVM-714 measure?

It measures air velocity and air temperature. Select m/s, km/h, ft/min, mph or knots for air velocity, and °C or °F for temperature.

Does it display CFM or CMM directly?

The documented measurement modes are air velocity and temperature. For volumetric airflow, calculate from representative average air velocity and the effective cross-sectional area, or ask TECPEL about a meter with direct CFM/CMM calculation.

How should I position the hot wire probe?

Zero the meter with the sensor cover closed. Open the cover for measurement, then face the mark on the sensor head into the airflow. Avoid touching the sensing element. Refer to the English manual for the complete procedure.

Can the meter connect to a computer?

Yes. The AVM-714 provides RS-232 serial output. A compatible interface cable and suitable software are required. Request current accessory options and compatibility information with your quotation.
